Abdulkadir Konukoğlu: "The flag of Turkey on textile is waving.

"I am calling to those saying ‘textile is living her last days.’ do not take care of those saying ‘textile is her last days.’ Turkey’s flag on textile is waving, open your eyes. Turkey has big potential for profit from textile.

Konukoğlu, who is the President of TOBB Turkey Textile Industry Assembly, together with İsmail Gülle, Chairman of Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters Association (İTHİB) and Zeki Kıvanç, Chairman of Mediterranean Textile and Raw Materials Exporters Association (ATHİB), attended the 14th National Textile Engineering Student Congress, organized by Istanbul Technical University held in Mustafa Kemal Amphitheater in the main sponsorship of SANKO.

At the congress attended by SANKO Holding Chairman Zeki Konukoğlu, more than 500 students from textile engineering departments of universities in Turkey as well as faculty members were present.

The students were entertained by singing ‘Hashil’ (Sizing procedure), the people’s song of the spinners in Gaziantep, watched before the speeches.

SANKO Holding Honorary President Abdulkadir Konukoğlu pointed out that it is necessary to work hard to be successful and said that those who do not work hard and do not sacrifice themselves will not succeed.

TURKEY'S FLAG IS WAVING IN TEXTILE

Konukoğlu told the students about the sections of his business life and how they should act in the course of job application. He insisted that they must not be worried about the future of the textile industry. He added: "I am calling to engineer candidates, ‘do not take care of those saying ‘textile is her last days.’ Turkey’s flag on textile is waving, open your eyes. Turkey has big potential for profit from textile for a long time.’

Reminding that the dominance of England and France in the text ended with independence of their colonies, Konukoglu said, "After France, Italy took over the flag, but after the developments in the last 20-25 years Turkey has come forward. "We have big accumulation in Turkey, textile is not in her last days, there is bread (profit) on the textile, do not be afraid, be in effort to perform your profession in the best possible way".

TEXTILE DEPARTMENT NOT IN EVERY UNIVERSITY

‘Many universities in Turkey has is not a textile engineering department,’ said Konukoglu, suggesting the following:

Not like that. All departments, faculties must find a solution to this. Which universities or universities are strong in textiles, which should be no more than 2-3, there must be a cluster model. The faculties and departments should provide hands-on training with factories to be built by them and laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art machinery. This approach should be exhibited not only in textiles but also in other departments. There must be campuses such as textile campus, machine campus, construction campus in which strong training should be provided to them.’

Emphasizing that everyone will write his own success story, Konukoğlu drew a road map to the students by saying, "Imagine, put a target, go after it, try hard".

On a question, she said im sussary that when he started to work in the plant ‘Adana Güney Sanayi’ he dreamed of being a master, and adde that Sakip Sabanci was his example. "In the past, o worker could wind 12 kilograms of yarn but now it is 6 tons per day."

OTHER SPEAKERS

Starting to speak by saying that "It will not be easy to talk after our older brother Abdulkadir Abdulkadir, our idol" ATHİB President Zeki Kivanc stressed that Turkey will progress on by working very hard.

"The wealth of your family does not bring you to some level in civil society organizations, but if you succeed, you can take part in non-governmental organizations," Kivanc said, urging young people to take part in NGOs.

İTHİB President İsmail Gülle said "Mr. Abdulkadir, who gave us courage in the field of yarn, in the field of textile, with his vision, has a big role" and made evaluations about the sector.
